Candescence
A structure for musical creation, production, and dissemination
Candescence supports the creation and dissemination of contemporary musical works, as well as their engagement with audiences.
The organisation develops projects combining artistic creation, production, dissemination and cultural outreach, in collaboration with artists, professional ensembles and cultural partners in France and internationally.
Traversées
Candescence’s first creative project, Traversées is a cycle for cello quartet combining contemporary creation, artistic dissemination and encounters with audiences. Developed from the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, it is intended to gradually expand across Europe and Asia.
Radio Poème
Radio Poème is a sound creation and cultural outreach project that brings poetry and music into dialogue.
Poems are given a voice and combined with original musical creations to produce sound-based works accessible to a wide range of audiences. The project will initially be developed through cultural outreach activities in the Alpes-Maritimes, working with diverse audiences, including care homes, schools, community centres and social organisations.
In the longer term, these creations are intended to come together as an online cultural radio station dedicated to poetry and music, conceived as a space for discovery, listening and encounter.
A creative process
Candescence supports the development of original musical works, from composition through to public performance. It includes:
commissions of new works
rehearsal sessions with professional ensembles
concerts and performances
Its aim is to bridge musical composition, performance practice, and audience engagement.

Candescence is founded and directed by composer Victoire Yau.
