Candescence develops contemporary music projects led by composer Victoire Yau, in collaboration with professional ensembles and guest performers.

Traversées

Creation project for cello quartet (2026–2028)

Traversées combines international itinerancy with an evolving repertoire for cello quartet, between Europe and Asia.

The project explores a form of musical writing shaped by movement, performed with ensembles and musicians encountered along the way. Original works, reworkings, and arrangements evolve through territories, encounters, and performance contexts.

It considers music not as a tour, but as a living process of travel, where forms are continuously reshaped by place and encounter.

A creative process

Candescence supports the development of original musical works, from composition through to public performance. It includes:

• commissions of new works

• rehearsal sessions with professional ensembles

• concerts and performances

Its aim is to bridge musical composition, performance practice, and audience engagement.

Artistic direction

Candescence is founded and directed by composer Victoire Yau.

Openness

Initially focused on the work of Victoire Yau, Candescence is intended to gradually expand into collaborative projects with other composers and artists in the field of contemporary music creation.

Candescence relies on direct support to enable the production and dissemination of its musical projects.
