Traversées
Creative Project for Cello Quartet (2027–2028)
The project
Traversées is a creative project for cello quartet initiated by Candescence. An evolving contemporary work combining performances, audience engagement and an artistic journey between Europe and Asia.
A creative process in motion
Designed as an evolving project, Traversées combines contemporary creation, performances and encounters with audiences. Each stage contributes to the development of the repertoire, as the works are shaped and transformed through encounters with places, artists and communities.
The first phase: Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur
The first phase of Traversées will take place in spring 2027 in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, with performances in Nice and Levens. This initial stage will establish the project’s artistic foundation before it unfolds across new territories. This first phase also includes a programme of audience engagement activities, developed in collaboration with local organisations to foster dialogue around contemporary musical creation.
Venues and organisations involved in this first phase:
Chapelle de la Providence (Nice) - in collaboration with the Fondation de Cessole ;
Cathédrale Sainte-Réparate (Nice) - in partnership with the Association des Amis de l’Orgue de la Cathédrale de Nice
The artists: Itinérance Cello Quartet
Traversées is developed in artistic collaboration with Itinérance Cello Quartet, whose approach to exploring and bringing new perspectives to the repertoire closely aligns with the spirit of the project.

An artistic journey across territories
In the long term, Traversées aims to continue its artistic journey between Europe and Asia. The repertoire, composed of original works, reimagined pieces and arrangements, evolves through different territories, artistic encounters and performance contexts.
Traversées approaches music not as a traditional tour, but as a living process of circulation, where works are transformed through the encounters they inspire.
